Can not add account to Outlook?

Hi All

I have this issue with a client and not being able to add their email profile to outlook - says outlook can't recognize this account are the details correct etc.

The thing is the details are correct and i can log into OWA with the said account and add the account to my local machine no worries at all. The other werd thing is if i log into the local admin account on the machine i can add the email account as well.

I'll list all the troubleshooting steps i have done below:

  • Recreated outlook profile

  • Removed office using the office removal tool and reinstalled

  • added reg key DisableADALatopWAMOverride dword 00000001

  • changed dns to a public DNS server and flushed dns to try add the account

  • cleared credential manager

  • Cleared all registry entries related to the profile in office/16/common/identities

  • tried adding the account with microsoft sara (gets stuck on we're contacting our servers to run this remote job:TenantUserInfo

  • can ping the autodiscover server for the domain

Any advise I'm going crazy

Thanks for any help

Cannot Add an email account to Outlook

I have used Outlook under Office 365 for years with little or no troubles. However, now I am trying to add a new POP email account from Cox.net but find that things have changed in the procedures I used in the past for doing so but I can't get it added to Outlook. Cox Webmail shows I can receive email from any of my existing Outlook accounts and send email from Webmail.

Are there some special procedures for adding the account to Outlook?

Thank you.

Can not add account to Outlook?

If you manage multiple email accounts–and who doesn’t these days?–you can add them all to your Outlook 2013/2016 client.

Whether it’s another Office 365 for Business account (as shown in the video), a personal Gmail account, or something else, these steps will allow you to add that additional account to Outlook so you can see all your mailboxes alongside each other.

  1. From the File tab, select + Add Account or Account Settings -> Account Settings.
  2. Enter your information in the Add Account dialog box: full name, complete email address, and password you use for that account. Click Next.
  3. Your account will automatically be configured. Click Finish.
  4. You’ll be notified when the configuration is complete. Click OK. Restart Outlook to see it alongside your other mailboxes.

Microsoft Outlook can’t add an account in Windows 11

Hi Folks, this a blog I will try to keep updated as I find issues with Windows 11 and Outlook 365 connecting. I have another blog here you can read also, it has more tips for setting up Outlook with Exchange/IMAP and POP  https://callthatgirl.biz/how-to-setup-outlook-on-windows-11

When you first get your Windows 11 (W11) computer and setup, it will most likely ask you to log in or create a new Microsoft account. There used to be a way around this but after I got my new W11 computer, I found no easy exits – so I just followed the wizard.

  • If you logged in with your business email account in the setup, you probably created a personal Microsoft account with that email. This can and will be complications for you in time when you use Outlook. You will need to disconnect the personal email to have a better Outlook experience.
  • If you logged in with another email account, you should be fine or in a better place for the future.

Let’s say you didn’t log in with your business email and Outlook still won’t connect. Here are a few things you can try. The top of the list is what fixed my own issue, yep even I had adding account problems and I’m happy I got to figure it out!

  • You need to first log into your 365 Account
  • Then go to the top right corner and click on the 2 initials, go to “view my account”
  • Then go to “Security Info”
  • Create yourself an app password, name it whatever you like. The 16 letters are your new password for Outlook. Try using that password and if that fails, then email me. The next fix requires changing the registry and I’m not comfortable adding a .zip file to this blog.

The SARA Microsoft Fix tool did not help with this problem.

If you want to email me, you can do so

Or you can schedule time on my calendar if you want me to help solve this problem. You can use the form below to contact me.

Feel free to leave a comment if this blog helped you! I am enjoying reading and replying to them.
