Steam is an online entertainment distribution and marketing platform created by Valve Corporation, initially released exclusively for Windows platforms on September 12, 2003 and made available for Mac, Mobile and Linux users in May 2010, January 2012 and February 2013 respectively. Users have the ability to buy games through Steam and install them on their devices an unlimited amount of times, as well as share their gaming experiences with a community of other users through forums, screenshots, videos and guides. It was estimated in October 2013 that 75% of all games purchased for the PC were through Steam.[1]
