This book is far from your average romance or shojo manga, or an updated Boys over Flowers adaptation. It's a psychological-slice of life-romance manhwa. Sounds confusing? The couple/HEA, Seol and Jung are far from your average manhwa/manga lead. Especially Jung carries a lot of baggage than an average kdrama male lead, which leads the audience guessing his true intentions. The writer does not treat her characters as black and white , nor make dark characters irredeemable. [when they will be in other manhwa] She makes a point to show them growing up while facing their daily issues and concludes the manhwa satisfactorily.

Note: I read Taiwanese version which concludes much earlier than the English version.

Cheese in the trap have great storylines and characters, there are a lot of side characters but they fit in the story. What I really liked about this manhwa is the first impression of two main characters and how it has build up. The male lead character is also unique so that it doesnt make the story boring or predictable, female lead is a whole fresh for me and i love her because she thinks smart about her decisions and perceptive. A lot of others wanted the female to end up with the second lead which i dont agree on, even though the both of them have funny interactions i dont think the story would've fit for them and perhaps i read this because of how the male lead character is.

I really like it! i would watch the drama version 😊

Okay, still haven't bought into this series completely, even after second lead was introduced. I loved Baek Inho in the kdrama but am kind of not feeling the vibe or purpose of his character in the webtoon.

This was so sad to read... But it also had such beautiful reminders for students like: you don't have to be perfect now, and it's ok to make mistakes. Because you learn a lot through trial and error. As well as that not every relationship both [romantic and platonic] is meant to last, that everyone walks their own path in life and that we should value the times that we have together now rather than to constantly think about the what ifs I am seriously going to miss this amazing, wholesome, heartbreaking story.

For those wondering this webtoon had one of the most satisfying endings, it was also so beautifully and realistically written that it was refreshing. All the characters were complex and even the ones that were supposed to be bland had their own special characteristics.

Although I am still sad that Seol and Inho cut ties T_T I loved their relationship and Inhos relationship with her family. But I am happy that he was able to start living life for himself overcoming the scars from his past bit by bit as well as him being capable of playing the piano once more. 😭😭😭

So Thank you Soon Kki for this amazing story and Farewell to one of the greatest web toons ever made.

Goodbye to one of the strongest and smartest protagonists.

Goodbye to the seemingly aloof mysterious guy, who was just a boy in love, wanting to be loved.

Goodbye to the boy who gave me severe second lead syndrome, who was betrayed by his sister and still stood by her side and protected her, who lost his best friend due to misunderstandings, who only wanted a family and a place to belong to, who only wanted to play the piano.

Goodbye to every complex character.

Cheese in the trap will forever hold a place in my heart and in the hearts of whoever reads it.

I strongly recommend this webtoon!

The dots are finally starting to connect! It’s kinda funny that everyone is hating on Jung Yu while I can understand him. I think he’s just protecting his space and maybe there’s a lot of backstories to unfold for him. I mean we’re seeing him just from Seol’s pov!

This is a Korean webtoon that richly develops two amazing leads and the whole series explores their fascinating cat-mouse relationship. The overall story is completely character driven, centering on one of the most intriguing relationships I've ever had the pleasure to read.

The powerful/villainous ML is one of my favorite fictional characters: He's someone who is a master of the game [nobody can best him in the game of life] and learned early on how to get what he wants from society. He's an expert at reading people and can often generate the response/action he wants from most individuals. His main problem was his inability to form a genuine relationship with anyone aside from his family. He pretends to be a "perfect" prince-like guy, but that's all it is, "pretend." He doesn't genuinely feel much of anything for anyone.

The FL was the first and only person he formed a complete attachment to and that's not something he would ever give up. He would do anything to keep her by his side and if, God forbid, she were ever to leave him, he would be destroyed. He honestly wouldn't be able to live without her.

This is my favorite kind of relationship in any romance: Cat-mouse dynamics with a mysterious element! What's especially rare is how we have an equally developed FL who is the ML's every match. The author developed her into someone you can truly relate with: A character with personality traits and flaws that's true to life. Seriously, every one of her reactions and actions are ones I can get behind and understand. There's not a single point in this story where she feels like a plot device, merely used to fulfil a plot point. She experiences character growth throughout this series in terms of how to better deal with friends/colleagues, her parents, and the ML. I adored her and the ML equally!!!

Overall, this series is a masterpiece slow-burn character driven story with an amazing FL and a ML who's a powerful/mysterious sociopath who only really cares about the FL and ends up needing her more than he needs air.

Never seen such a realistic, complex, layered story like this before. The writing in this is the best I've ever seen in a webcomic. The writer is truly a genius. The plot for Cheese in the Trap seems very basic on paper, but captivatingly realistic. Seol is an unforgettable protagonist. She is very different from any other MC that I've read; she's intelligent, emotionally mature, introspective, perceptive, kind, and human. For a long time, I had no role model, but I think I've finally found one in Seol. I loved the way this webcomic handled emotional compatibility/connection over physical attraction. I loved the way the characters were all fleshed out, and didn't do out-of-character things for the sake of advancing the story or fulfilling a cliche. I loved the subtle character development. I love the lessons this taught me about life. This is one of the stories that will stick with me for life.

The characters are incredible, the situations are real. And I Still can't believe that the suspense continued till the end, and that was satisfying as well?! What a story...one of the best webtoons I've read. Soonki is a genius.

Originally 3 stars, revised to 5 stars because I forgot how much I loved Seol and Jung together *happy hum* Really, not your typical romance story~ the author created such good characters with multifaceted personalities and this was just pure joy in a bottle :]

Is Cheese in the Trap worth watching?

I actually really like this movie version of Cheese In the Trap. I've seen the kdrama as well. Fans need to see this movie as a 'filler' to the kdrama. A lot more backstory about Sunbae [Park Hae Jin] that would explain how psychotic he actually really is.

Is Cheese in the Trap good manhwa?

Cheese in the Trap is perhaps the most popular webtoon till now. So popular in fact that it has both a movie and a drama adaptation. But none of them are as good as the webtoon.

Cheese in the Trap [Korean: 치즈 인 더 트랩] is a 2018 South Korean romantic drama film starring Park Hae-jin, Oh Yeon-seo and Park Ki-woong, based on the Korean webtoon of the same name.

Is Cheese in the Trap popular?

Cheese in the Trap was a success in both South Korea and China. It was sold to China for $125,000 per episode, becoming the most expensive cable series.
