Every display comes with its own native resolution, which is the exact number of pixels horizontally and vertically it packs into the given space. This is often the ideal resolution to run the laptop at because it's usually the most crisp and takes advantage of every pixel. Thirteen-inch laptops not only come in multiple native resolutions but can display multiple resolutions instead of the native one.

Thirteen-Inch Laptop Resolutions

The majority of 13-inch laptops you find will come with a display resolution of around 1280-by-800 or 1366-by-768, but there are many exceptions. Many manufacturers ship laptops with ultra-high resolution displays, meaning more pixels are packed into the same amount of display space. Some 13-inch laptops come with full 1080p HD displays, which have a 1920-by-1080 native resolution. Apple's MacBook Pro with Retina display runs at a staggering 2560-by-1600 native resolution. However, you can opt to run the laptop at lower resolutions like 1920-by-1080, 1440-by-900 and so on, and the pixels will essentially imitate a lower-resolution display.
