Recently for Shine’s birthday, I decided to throw a surprise dinner reservation for just the two of us at Ocean Restaurant by Cat Cora, a dining concept developed by Resorts World Sentosa and renowned celebrity chef, Cat Cora, the first ever female Iron Chef. The Ocean Restaurant is located within the S.E.A. Aquarium where you will be immersed in the open ocean habitat made for a truly memorable dining experience.
I made a request for us to to sit beside the glass but it’s not guaranteed so I was extremely grateful that we got the requested table and watched the fishes and adorable manta rays swim by while we had our dinner. Since I got a few questions through Instastory, let me share with you some tips on how you can have the best experience at the Ocean Restaurant.
Things to Note
- Make reservations early [especially if it’s for lunch] and make a request to seat by the glass but do note that your request is not guaranteed.
- Make reservations for dinner preferably at second sitting [after 8pm] for a higher chance of getting a table by the glass, less crowd/noise and better photo opportunities.
- Dinner reservations for a table by the glass will require a minimum spending of SGD $170 per pax.
- Dress well [duh!]. Do not come in with slippers and shorts.

Birthday Cake
Shine was pleasantly surprise by the cake and frankly, so was I, lol! It was entirely edible [except for the candle and fire of course]. Even the clam was edible and it tasted really good too although we’re both not really big with cakes but it was great – not too sweet with the right amount of chocolate and cream.
How did we enjoy Ocean Restaurant by Cat Cora?
We really did have a memorable experience. We satisfied our curiosity of how an Iron Chef’s food would taste like and Cat Cora’s was incredible! Although portions were small, the flavours and texture of each dish blended really well, the presentation had attention to detail and we were full by the end of the 6 course. Even the drinks and 18 year Macallan were mixed very well! Thank you the team behind Ocean Restaurant for your patience and awesome service, for attending to our requests [even though I had many!] and for the overall incredible experience.
To the sunshine and love of my life, thank you for always providing the best for me even when times were hard. A lot of the reasons why I’m at a better place now is due to your unconditional love and support. I’m incredibly lucky to have met and even got to marry such a giving, incredibly patient and charming man. To many more happy birthdays my love.

The menu is curated by Chef Olivier Bellin, a two-star Michelin chef from L’Auberge des Glazicks in Brittany. The chef is a passionate advocate of sustainable dining, and his menus revolve around responsibly sourced seafood and locally farmed produce which he uses to tell stories about his region.
