What iPhone will not be supported in 2022?

Apple’s WWDC keynote took place yesterday. As part of the event, the company revealed its all new for iOS 16 compatible iPhones.

iOS 16 packs various new features including a redesigned lock screen and notification system along with improved and redesigned system apps. The software update to iOS 16 is set to roll out later this year on iPhone 8 and later devices. Here are the devices that will be getting the iOS 16 update.

List of iOS 16 compatible iPhones

Apple’s latest iOS 16 will be compatible with all devices from iPhone 8 and above. The list will include iPhone 13, 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, the entire iPhone 12 and 11 lineups as well as the iPhone Xs, Xs Max and XR. iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone SE second -gen and iPhone SE third-gen will all get iOS 16.

Phones that will not compatible with iOS 16

With the launch of iOS 16, certain old iPhones will not be compatible with the update. Apple will no longer support iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and the iPhone SE [1st generation]. As far as these devices are concerned, iOS 15 will be the last update. Additionally, the iPod touch 7th generation is also no longer supported and will remain at iOS 15.

With iOS 16,Apple has now completely redesigned its lock screen by introducing multi-layered customization options which will allow iPhone users to personalize the lock screen in new ways. Apple is also bringing Focus mode to the lockscreen which will allow users to switch between appropriate focus modes by simply swiping to the corresponding Lock Screen.

iOS 16 is also set to get new messaging features such as the ability to edit and unsend messages after they have been sent . iOS users will also get an option to mark messages as unread.

Apple has also updated its dictation experience that will allow users to easily switch between voice and touch. iOS 16 also gets new parental control options which will allow parents to manage kids accounts, as soon as they set up the device.

Apple is also introducing a feature to its Mail app that will allow you to schedule emails via the Mail app on iOS 16. Users will also be able to cancel the delivery of a message before it reaches a recipient’s inbox. Apple on Monday announced iOS 16, the next major update to its operating system. Now that the update was officially unveiled during the opening keynote of WWDC 2022, we finally have details about which iPhone models are supported by iOS 16.

Surprisingly, according to Apple’s website, iOS 16 requires an iPhone 8 or later. This means that Apple has discontinued the 1st generation iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, and iPhone 7. iPod touch, which was discontinued last month, will also no longer support iOS updates.

With the update, Apple is adding even more customization options for iPhone users. It starts with a brand new lock screen that has animated wallpapers and widgets. Other new features include revamped notifications, smarter Focus Mode, shared iCloud Photo Library, edit and delete messages in iMessage, translation for text in photos, and more.

Apple today previewed iOS 16, delivering the biggest update ever to the Lock Screen, and new sharing, communication, and intelligence features that together change the way users experience iPhone. iOS 16 introduces iCloud Shared Photo Library to seamlessly share a collection of photos with family, updates to Messages and Mail that help users stay in touch with ease, and powerful enhancements to Live Text and Visual Look Up.
