Will Dell laptop work without battery

I don't believe the battery on the Ideapad 320 is even removable, short of dismantling the thing. If that's the case, then you probably won't be swapping it in and out on a regular basis.

Yes, you are right, I thought my friends here are aware about it, but I googled and I found it can't be swapped easily because I need to open the bottom side... My question here is that:

When it is fully charged to 100%, does the charger adapter automatically stop charging it? If not, will keeping the device plugged-in damage the battery? I read on the Lenovo forum, there is some kind of utility application that keeps the battery charged at 60%. Will this kind of applications help keep the battery healthy? Or is it just an advertisement?

The overcharging prevention is all done with the connection inside of the laptop that you plug the cable into. if it wasn't designed to stop charging at 100% or enable passthrough where the PC just gets all it's power from the adapter and no electricity passes into the battery then you can get overcharging and that can damage the battery and it's charge capacity as well as lifespan. So turn it on and charge it to 100% and look at the little icon for it and see if it stops showing the charging symbol. If the symbol goes away then you can leave it plugged in while using it or 24/7 in general. If it continues to show a charging symbol then in order to save your battery from damage you need to be unplugging it when it is charged up and using it on battery until it gets low and then plugging it back in.
