There is an Indent Between the Number and Words after the Number 10
0
I am making a numbered list, and when I get to 10, there is an indent between the words and the number. For example:

8. Words
9. Words
10. Words

And then I get to 11, and the numbering doesn't cooperate then. It's like:
11.Words
12.Words
13.Words
And it all happens in the double digits.
Thanks!!

You need to move the tab marker on the ruler.
If you could share a version of the doc it would help.

I already tried that, it did not work.
The thing is, I found an Help article on this same thing, and they had the person share the Google Doc. It made it hard because nobody else could see the solution to fix the problem. I don't know how hard this would make it, but is there any other way to do it than sharing the document with you?

Hi, Natalie,
This is happening because there's not enough room between the two-digit number and the word that follows it to align. [Thisshouldn't happen, but it does.] Some fonts work better than others in lists like this. Which font are you currently using? Please try a different font to see if that helps.

Hi, Natalie,
You would need to manually adjust the indent for your list by dragging the blue bar and downward arrow in the ruler to where you'd like the indent to be [see screen shot below].

Hi, Natalie,

You will need to manuallymove the arrow and then the bar [in the ruler] to get your list to align the way you want it to be [so the space between the number and word is equidistant for all your entries].

I manually moved it back and forth. This is where it is. It's not working

Hi, Natalie,
Would you be willing to share a copy of the file with editing permission so I could take a direct look at it and try to figure out what the problem might be? If so, please follow these steps:
  1. Open the document you need help with.
  2. Choose File > Make a copy.
  3. In the new copy of the document remove any sensitive information, or replace it with similar placeholder data.
  4. Choose File > Share and click on Get shareable link in the upper right-hand corner of the dialog box.
  5. Click "Anyone with the link can view"and change it to "Anyone with the link can edit."
  6. Click the link in the address box below and press Control+C to copy it [on a Mac, press C].
  7. Click Done.
  8. Post the link in a reply in this thread.

Thanks Jo.
Natalie, I will leave you in Jo's safe hands.I'm sure she will be able to get to the bottom of it - but ultimately she's right that you probably need to manually adjust those indents [having first selected ALL the affected rows].
