Koonunga hill shiraz cabernet 2023 review năm 2024

Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet is very much a reflection of the Penfolds winemaking style and philosophy. Sourced from premium vineyards across South Australia, the wine is known for its full-flavoured style with excellent shiraz and cabernet fruit, firm yet well-rounded structure and balanced oak. Made as a traditional 'Australian blend', the shiraz component provides fleshy fruit flavour while cabernet provides a frame of fine grained tannins.

Reviews and Ratings

Trent Mayers rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

My first experience with this typical Australian blend was back in the 1990s and I have not tasted it in a number of years. It still exemplifies why this blend works well with its full bodied, intense dark fruits wrapped in oak spice and vanilla. The tannins are high, but not at all aggressive. If you are looking for a crowd pleaser to pour at your Christmas gathering, pick up a few bottles. Bigger flavoured foods like red meats will bring out its best. 3.5 stars out of 5

Intense nose: cassis, blackberries, eucalyptus, spice, oak. The alcohol is present and also some VA. Taste is medium/full bodied, tannins a bit harsh and it is definitely better with food. It is clearly not an elegant and complex wine, but it is good value as a companion to a BBQ-dinner.

  • Color: Deep ruby with a purple hue. Nose: Green paprika. Cassis. Mouth: Very good expressiveness and length. Quite fresh. Medium to full bodied. Sweet fruit extract despite being bone-dry, of course. The alc. [14.5%] can be felt just a tad. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comment
  • 89/90. 14,5%. Has nice vanilla oak infused lightly spicy chewy black fruits and mediumish length. Under 7 Euros. Excellent value! Drink now or in next couple of years. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comment
  • Still definitely enjoyable for the low price but I'm wondering about bottle variation or something, because it was a few truly noticeable steps down from the last couple of times I tried it. Much more muted and generic, with some super faint vanilla and vague plum on the nose, and pretty much exactly the same on the palate, balanced and tasty but lacking a lot of the "oomph" amd complexity from my last tastes of this vintage. • What a value for money! I paid $10, but I think it's regularly $12? Nice but heady nose of eucalyptus, rosemary and blackberry. Quite full-bodied, this has the tannic structure of a much more expensive wine. Thick and dense, with flavors that mimic the aromas, this should be drunk now-2026 Just excellent for the price! 89 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comment

What does Penfold Koonunga Hill Shiraz taste like?

This is a wine that is of much greater quality than what a $10-15 bottle has. 4.0Aromas of cherry, raspberries, black currant, blueberries, plum, licorice, oak, clove. The palate has stewed red fruits, with warm spices and oak undertones.

Is Cabernet Shiraz a good wine?

Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon are two of the world's most popular and widely grown grapes. They both provide us with two great wines that we love. The bottom line is: you can't go wrong with either wine, so drink whatever you like.

Is Shiraz Cabernet same as Cabernet Sauvignon?

In summary, wines made from Shiraz are fruity, sweet and full-bodied, with a high alcohol content and powerful tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon, on the other hand, are wines with a complex and attractive aroma, full-bodied and balanced wines with great aging potential.
