Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

When I try to set up a new apple ID, it asked for a non-apple domain email account. When I try to use my email address, it says it's already assocaited with another account. My email address is very unique and I doubt anyone else knows to use it. When I try to search for it using look up apple ID, it can't find any apple ID associated with that email. So I'm stuck...why does it say its in use, but when I search for it, it can't find it?

It sounds like the email address you are trying to set up and use as an Apple ID may be associated with another Apple ID as an additional or recovery email address. You can navigate to appleid.apple.com and sign in with your existing Apple ID to check the additional email addresses and remove them. Please use the attached discussion as a reference.

You are unable to change your email address from your current email to your desired email which is a managed account even though you're the administrator. The problem is that you see the error message that mentions` "email is already taken"` like below:

Cause

Usually occurs when the target email address exists as an Atlassian Account due to many reasons including misconfiguration of the SAML that does not abide by rules that at least one attribute value like "user.userprincipalname" does not change. This is mentioned at the "Unsupported identity providers" area of the document below. Look specifically at the mapping highlighting "Internal Id for the user that will not change".

Resolution

To handle these users , here is what we suggest.

1. First the user need to login as their new target email ID at id.atlassian.com which already exists 2. They then need to change this email address to any temporary but accesssible email - this can even be a newly created personal account at any free email provider like Gmail or Yahoo mail. 3. What this does is release the target email address as already tied to Atlassian Account and thus the error messages no longer appears saying the address is taken 4. The administrator then should be able to make the change at the Atlassian Access Admin page directly

Caution

This scenario will work for you if you want to maintain the users at your managed account with the new email address and the original email address data on the products [Please keep in mind this is not a merging account or data scenario].

When you wish to add a new user and the system shows an error message "The email has already been taken".

The problem is that the email you want to add to the Account is already taken, a user has created an individual account using that email address.

  • One email address can not be assigned to 2 different DeskTime accounts at the same time.
  • Following GDPR, the option to delete the Account is restricted to the person who has created it.
  • In this case, you would have to ask the user to delete the existing DeskTime account in order to add it to your Company Account.

To delete an account, it is necessary to go to Settings ➡ Account, and on the top, there is the option to "Delete Account". For more guidelines check out our article here.

Sometimes, when trying to update settings [country, birth date etc.] on your Spotify account page, you might get an error message saying "Email is taken." even if you didn't try to update your email address.

If you did try to update your email but you're getting that message, I'd recommend you try following the "Another account is using my email address" section of this support article.

However, sometimes you might get this message even if you didn't try to update your email address. This issue happens because a few years ago it was possible to create more than one account with the same email address, so if you have two accounts with the same email address, you won't be able to change it back because there would still be an account with that email address.

To solve this issue, you can change the email address to a different one. However, if you'd like to change the email address back to the desired one, I'd recommend you try to do a password reset with the "taken" email address that you don't use and close any account that might pop up. That should enable you to change the email address back to the desired one. It's important to check the account you're closing is not the one you currently use.
