I had 6 of these in a small travel size that I would save to take with me when going abroad but kind of forget about it for quite a while and the last one was just sitting there at the bottom of my skincare collection. But now, I have finally finished the last one. In the time it took me to go through these, I’ve noticed that IOPE has changed the packaging and formulation.

So as I can’t find any information online for the specific one I have, I will share IOPE’s description and ingredients list of the most recent one they have on their website.

IOPE’s Quoted Description

My Thoughts

So as I’ve already mentioned, the product I just finished using is the old formulation so my thoughts of the product are based on that, If you’ve used the latest formulation with the ingredients above, please let me know if your views are any different from what I’m about to write about the old version.

The old version that I used has a fresh perfumey citrus alcohol fragrance. The product comes out of the squeeze tube as a white gel-cream with tiny blue specs in it. When working it over the face, it feels gritty and the blue particles dissolve into the skin. After a while, the product starts to bunch up which makes it seem like rolls of dead skin cells but in fact it’s just the cellulose in the product. Obviously, if there is a bit of a change in colour [like a dull grey] then there could be some impurities that have been picked up which is great, but in general, those rolls you see are just the cellulose in the product and not your dead skin cells peeling away. I’ve tested it on freshly washed hands and face and can confirm that it still bunches up. I would say that the peeling is a lot more subtle and can’t be seen as obvious dead skin cells flaking off, but rather any exfoliation comes purely from the scrubby texture and the mild AHAs in this product. My face does feel softer after using this, but sometimes a bit sore if I work it in too hard without realising.

In my opinion, I’d much rather use a product that cuts out the alcohol, fragrance, scrub particles and any other not so fantastic added frills – a good quality liquid AHA that will give me the right exfoliation I need without the harsh scrubby feeling will work perfectly – any recommendations? please share in the comments :D.
