Review klairs rich moist soothing serum năm 2024

My friends and I did an Asian beauty product exchange for Christmas, and one of them was kind enough to get it for me, (it was on my wish list). Given the absurd number of products I have, I wasn’t able to open it until a couple of weeks ago. I’ve used it long enough, now, that I feel comfortable giving a review.

Where form meets function: practical, no-frills, and easy to use.

The serum is in a sturdy plastic bottle and is dispensed via a nice, easy-gliding pump. One pump is usually enough for my whole face. It comes with a small plastic cap to cover the pump. At 2.7 fl oz, it’s a generous amount for a serum.

Claims

“With a fortifying blend of organic ingredients, including celery, carrot root, and broccoli extract, the Rich Moist Soothing Serum replenishes your skin’s moisture levels without compromising the delicate nature of your skin.

Klairs recently upgraded the formula of this serum so it absorbs faster. With a mild refreshing, citrus scent, it’s perfect for anyone whose skin easily becomes red and inflamed and needs a calming serum that also won’t skimp on providing moisture.” (Soko Glam)

The bolded ingredients may look familiar. That’s because they’re the same ones I highlighted in the review of the Klairs toner. In case you don’t want to click over (laaaazy!), here’s the rundown on them again.

  • Hyaluronic acid: Can boost skin’s moisture content, soothe, and helps defend against moisture loss. It is capable of holding up to 1,000 times its own weight in water (!!!).
  • Centella extract: Contains antioxidants and is soothing to the skin.
  • Licorice Root extract: Has skin-soothing properties. It also may be effective in evening skin tone. It is ideal for sensitive or red/irritated skin.
  • Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract: Aloe extract, known for soothing irritated skin.
  • Arginine: an amino acid with antioxidant properties.

I hate to be redundant, but hey, I didn’t formulate these products. I’m just giving the facts.

The (Personal) Evidence

The Klairs serum is a clear, lightweight, gel-like serum that smells very herbally. Once again, the scent reminds me a lot of the Klairs toner.

Just slightly thicker than the toner.

It does take awhile to fully absorb into my skin, though, despite the reformulation claims to the contrary. This means I’ve relegated it to my nightly routine for the most part because I need time to let it absorb. I get my light hydration in the morning from other products that absorb faster, like my Cosrx Snail 96 Perfect Amazing Essence, which I shall someday do a review on. (I’ve been taking it for granted that you just know by now that I love snails, you should love snails, snails 4 eva!)

The Klairs serum is formulated to do exactly as advertised, which is soothe and hydrate. It definitely does that. Upon applying it, there is definitely a pleasant cooling affect. I can see this being great for irritated skin, like from actives or sunburn. (Not that any of you would allow yourselves the horror of a sunburn!) It’s an ingredient list that helped me to fall in love with the toner.

BUT. This is also exactly why the serum just isn’t doing it for me.

GASP.

Look, I purposely stopped using the Klairs toner for a several weeks now, subbing in this serum to see how it performed and if the two products were somewhat interchangeable.

They’re not.

I can layer in the toner for a good 5 or 6 layers and it isn’t until the last few that they take a bit to absorb, understandably so. The serum, however, can’t really be layered in that way, and one application doesn’t provide as much soothing hydration as several layers of toner.

I have a number of products (essences and toners) in my routine that soothe and many that hydrate. If I want to add in a serum, I expect that it will have a specific function, such as brightening or reducing redness. While this serum soothes and hydrates, I haven’t seen it help reduce redness at all.

I can also use the toner as a “carrier” of products if need be, such as my beloved Stratia Rewind, which is great but not easy to spread around on my skin. Adding it to the toner makes it easier. I have tried to use the serum as a carrier, and it’s just thick enough to be awkward when I try to drop other products into it.

If I’m being honest, because I have so many other hydrating products in my routine, I don’t really notice a difference between when I use this and when I don’t. That, however, probably says more about my routine and how I’ve chosen the products I use than it does about the Klairs serum specifically.

To be clear, this is in no way a bad product. It’s just that I can get the same results from the toner, which absorbs faster and is more flexible with how it can be used.

Overall, I think that if you have sensitive skin and have a difficult time finding products that work for you, this serum would be a great way to add hydration and soothing extracts into your routine. I have not met many people for whom the Klairs products disagree with their skin.

So, will I buy this product again?

Rating Scale:

Did you not read the review? Yes, of course. I will spend all of my money on this product!

Yes. I enjoy this product enough to purchase again in the future, especially if it’s on sale.

Meh. Maybe. I mean, I bet there are other, better things out there. I’d use it if someone gave it to me.

No. I won’t use this again and will probably bad-mouth it to others.

Hahahahaha. Nope. Noooooooope. Not even if you paid me.

The Verdict: Meh. Maybe. I mean, I bet there are other, better things out there. I’d use it if someone gave it to me.

I’ll continue using up this bottle, and I think it will be excellent for the summer. I may even put it in the fridge this summer for extra cooling. Sometimes Mr. Sir forgets to wear sunscreen (I KNOW), and I think it would be perfect for him to use after he’s been out in the sun as well.
