Adaptation of one of Benelux most famous children's novels. Tough prime school girl Akkie loves soccer and can be a real bully. Love is the only thing she's scared of. When Akkie is diagnosed with Leukemia, she has to fight for her life. On the verge of going to high school, Akkie has to allow love to enter her life, and thus gain courage to accept the inevitable.

Achtste groepers huilen niet, derdejaars studenten bij het zien van deze film wel. Dit is een meeslepende film die echt pijn doet. Iron man die dood gaat in Avengers Endgame? Nee dit is pas een heuse tranentrekker. Het is maar goed dat je geen foto’s kan plaatsen bij je reviews [of dat ik niet weet hoe dat moet] want mijn telefoon is niet waterdicht. Dat is het plot van deze film wel, hoe verschrikkelijk dit ook is. Voetbal, liefde, rosltoel-racen en verdriet, deze film heeft alles. Akkie gaat strijdend ten onder en is bij voorbaat eigenlijk kansloos, een beetje ik die “één biertje in de stad” ga doen. Genoeg stomme vergelijkingen. Dit is echt een ziek zielige film, huilen geblazen. Niet haten op de 5 sterren voordat je m zelf zonder te huilen hebt gekeken.
