Numerous digital projector models are equipped with multiple input ports. VGA is one of the most common input types for digital projectors. If your projector and your laptop are both equipped with VGA ports, you can connect them with a VGA cable. If only one component has a VGA port and the other uses a DVI port, an adapter must be used to make the connection.
VGA-to-VGA
1
Plug the projector power cord into the electrical socket. Remove the lens cap. Turn the digital projector on.
2
Connect the laptop AC adapter. Plug the other end into an electrical outlet.
3
Plug the VGA cable into the laptop's VGA port. Plug the other end into the digital projector's VGA port.
4
Turn the laptop computer on. After the computer loads, the laptop display is projected on the wall in front of the projector.
DVI-to-VGA
1
Attach the adapter to one end of the VGA cable. Screw in the locks on the sides of the adapter to establish a firm connection.
2
Plug the VGA end of the cable into the device that has a VGA port.
3
Connect the DVI adapter end of the cable into the DVI port on the other device.
