Đã xác định được 16 đội bóng sẽ tham dự VCK U.20 châu Á 2023 ở Uzbekistan. Trong đó, khu vực Đông Nam Á có 2 đại diện là U.20 Việt Nam và U.20 Indonesia.
Bảng H của vòng loại U.20 châu Á vừa hoàn thành thi đấu và đã xác định 2 cái tên cuối cùng lọt vào VCK U.20 châu Á được tổ chức ở Uzbekistan vào năm sau. 2 đội bóng giành quyền vào chơi vòng chung kết của bảng H lần lượt là U.20 Úc và U.20 Iraq.
16 cái tên góp mặt ở VCK U.20 châu Á 2023 sẽ được chia thành 4 nhóm hạt giống để bốc thăm chia thành 4 bảng. Việc chia nhóm hạt giống được dựa trên thành tích của các đội từ VCK U.19 châu Á 2018. 4 nhóm hạt giống như sau:
Nhóm 1: Uzbekistan [chủ nhà], Ả Rập Xê Út, Hàn Quốc, Qatar.
Nhóm 2: Nhật Bản, Tajikistan, Úc, Indonesia.
Nhóm 3: Jordan, Trung Quốc, Iraq, Việt Nam.
Nhóm 4: Iran, Oman, Syria, Kyrgyzstan.

Ở khu vực Đông Nam Á có 2 đại diện là Indonesia và Việt Nam, lần lượt xếp ở vị trí cuối cùng của nhóm hạt giống thứ 2 và thứ 3. Trước đó, U.20 Indonesia và U.20 Việt Nam nằm ở bảng F và cùng giành quyền góp mặt tại VCK U.20 châu Á 2023. Đội bóng xứ vạn đảo đi tiếp với vị trí nhất bảng khi thắng Việt Nam ở lượt trận cuối cùng vòng bảng với tỷ số 3-2. Đội bóng của HLV Đinh Thế Nam lọt vào vòng chung kết với tư cách là đội nhì bảng có thành tích tốt nhất.
Trong khi đó, sau khi bảng H hoàn thành thi đấu, U.20 Thái Lan từ chỗ đứng thứ 5 trong top 5 đội nhì bảng có thành tích tốt nhất vòng bảng đã tụt xuống vị trí thứ 6 vì nhận nhiều thẻ vàng hơn và đành vắng mặt ở VCK U.20 châu Á 2023.
U.20 Việt Nam và các đội bóng sẽ bắt đầu chinh chiến ở VCK U.20 châu Á 2023 từ ngày 1 đến ngày 18.3.2023.
