When a set top box is connected to a TV, the set top box is in control and if you try to use the TV remote control to alter the TV settings (except input and the TV power on/off) you will get the message on the TV screen

All changes need to be done using the set top box remote, but they will only affect the set top box not the TV, e.g. increasing Vol using the box's remote will increase the volume output from the set top box and this will increase the volume from the TV.

If you wish to change a setting in the TV then you need to switch control back to the TV e.g. if the set top box is connected to a HDMI port or a Composite (AV) video port etc, then use the input button on the TV remote to switch back from the selected input i.e. HDMI, AV etc to the antenna input. Then you can use the TV remote to adjust any settings in the TV.

To use the set top box again you need to switch the TV input back to the port e.g. HDMI, AV etc that the set top box is connected to.
