What genre is Lovejoy?

Lovejoy is a British indie rock band from Brighton, England, consisting of two guitarists, a bassist, and a drummer.

Is Radiohead indie rock?

During the decade, indie rock bands like Sonic Youth, the Pixies and Radiohead all released albums on major labels and subgenres like slowcore, Midwest emo, slacker rock and space rock began.

What does indie stand for?

That's very simple. "Indie" is short for "independent." Independently released music is not directly financially dependent on any of the four major labels (WMG, Sony BMG, EMI and Universal). "Indie" does not refer to a style of music; it refers to the financial circumstances of its distribution.

Does indie still exist?

Indie music is more a branch of popular music, a subgenre and a vibe, as I expressed it in some previous articles. Independent and alternative music, on the other hand, still exists and more than that, it flourishes. A lot of independent subgenres emerged — such as hyperpop!
