What's New

The 2023 Toyota Camry is essentially a carryover model from the year prior. The Nightshade trim gains blacked-out headlights and taillights and wears new 19-inch matte bronze alloy wheels.

Choosing Your Toyota Camry

The Toyota Camry is offered in six trims, the LE, SE, SE Nightshade Edition, XLE, XSE, and TRD. Pricing ranges from $27,040 to $35,590 for the TRD trim which features a V6 as standard, however, it is not the most lavishly equipped.

Engine Choices

A 2.5-liter engine is standard across the Camry line-up, with the exception of the TRD trim. The atmospherically-aspirated four-cylinder produces 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque while a 3.5-liter V6 is offered on the XLE and XSE trims (standard on the TRD trim) and puts out 301 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. Both engines route power through an eight-speed automatic to the front wheels while the four-cylinder engine can be fitted with an all-wheel-drive system for $1,400.

Fuel economy tops out at an EPA-estimated 32 miles per gallon combined in the LE and SE trims which is lessened by one MPG in the XLE and XSE trims. All-wheel drive lowers those ratings by two MPG points. The V6’s 26 MPG combined rating matches that of the uprated Honda Accord and its turbocharged engine while delivering a more linear powerband. For those seeking maximum efficiency, look to the Camry Hybrid which delivers up to 52 MPG combined.

Passenger and Cargo Capacity

The Camry is 192.1 inches long which puts it about four inches shorter than the Accord but right in line with the Nissan Altima and Hyundai Sonata. Rear legroom measures 38 inches – nearly as much as the large Honda and about three inches more than what you’ll find in its Nissan and Hyundai competitors – and rear headroom (38 inches) is greater than any of the three. Trunk volume, on the other hand, is where the Camry falls behind the others, with just 15.1 cubic feet of space.

Safety Features

All trims feature a near-full roster of active safety equipment. Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist with lane centering, adaptive cruise control, road sign assist, and automatic high beams are included as standard. Blind-spot monitoring is offered on the LE and SE trims ($680) and is standard on the XLE, XSE, and TRD trims as is a full-speed adaptive cruise control system. Front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking and a panoramic view camera system are offered on the XLE and XSE trims.

The 2023 Camry has not yet been rated by NHTSA but the 2022 model received five stars, as well as a 2022 Top Safety Pick+ award from IIHS.

Connectivity

The LE, SE, and TRD are equipped with a seven-inch touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and SiriusXM compatibility and a Wi-Fi Hotspot. The XLE trim includes a larger nine-inch touchscreen (optional on the LE and SE), remote connected services, and a wireless charger, and offers navigation and a premium JBL sound system with nine speakers, including a subwoofer.

One of the several available option packages includes a panoramic sunroof, premium audio with navigation, a head-up display, surround-view monitor, front and rear parking assist, and ventilated seats for $4,550.

XLE models with the V6 are $5,125 more than the four-cylinder model and feature dual exhaust with chrome tips as well as additional convenience items such as a panoramic sunroof, a color head-up display, HomeLink, and an upgraded audio system.

2023 Toyota Camry TRD – MSRP From $35,590

The TRD trim includes a list of features that most closely aligns with the SE Nightshade Edition, however, its standard V6 power and unique styling make it a stand-out among the Camry lineup. It wears a gloss black front splitter, side skirts, and rear diffuser with red accents, a gloss-black rear pedestal spoiler, 19-inch matte black TRD wheels with red center caps, and red TRD exterior badging. A TRD cat-back exhaust features polished tips and delivers a unique sound while red stitching on the dash, steering wheel, seats, and shifter boot matches the red embroidered TRD logo on the headrests. Red back-lit gauges, a unique TRD start-up animation within the 4.2-inch driver information display, and aluminum pedals also work to contribute to a sportier driving experience.
