Spotify top fan

Not really a third-party app as it's by Spotify but had no idea what I should flair it as. I was in the top 4% of Olivia Rodrigo listeners, what'd yall get?

edit - answering questions

this was sent by Spotify's twitter account (here) and from the looks of things was mainly made to promote the today's top hits spotify playlist, hence the minimal size of the artists that show up. So if you listen to anything other than pop sucks to suck I guess, still a pretty cool feature and I guess wait for Spotify wrapped or connect your Spotify account to last fm. Cheers <3

Today’s Top Fan Explained

Spotify’s new app, clearly aiming at the devout music stan community teases, ‘you are a fan, but are you a Today’s Top Fan?’ To get the results, users have to sign in using their Spotify login details.

The results will show which music artist a user has listened to most, the comparison between that particular artist and others, the number of hours that fans have spent bopping to their favorites, the starting date of their journey, and their ‘Top Fan’ percentage rank.

How accurate is the app?

While the fans got easily hooked to the new feature, some have majorly complained that the stats are not entirely accurate as they got various artists that they haven’t streamed in a while. A user commented, “there’s no way the spotify top fan thing is accurate. I barely listen to any of the artists I got I feel so ,,, offended!”

Another similar tweet read, “I listened to this one artist nonstop for like 6 months then dropped them in 2019, and they’re STILL my top artist like!” A user complained, “Spotify won’t let me have BTS as an option for that TTH fan thing and I’m so sad.” To which a BTS fan responded, “I’m convinced they’ve marked us bots. Like wdym 9h of Billie makes her my top artist?? I listen to that much BTS in a Single Day!”

Spotify has explained the process of choosing the fan status of users. According to the app, “The most important factor is how many times you have listened to an artist. In this case, we look at the first 15% of fans who listened to an artist on Spotify. We also take into account other factors like if you have listened to the artist in the past three years.”

The app noted, “We’ve compiled your listening behavior that goes back to 2013. So your fandom could alter over the years.”

Music fans who use Spotify are constantly given facts about their choices, from how many hours they listened to one artist to who they stream the most.

And the company has just launched a new statistical tool for its users called Today’s Top Fans.

But what is it and how does it work?

What is Today’s Top Fans?

Today’s Top Fans is a new feature by Spotify which lets users find out their most streamed artist and songs.

Whether it’s seven continuous streamed hours of Ariana Grande or what percent super fan you are based on their listening habits for your top artist, this gives music fans this knowledge at their fingertips.

It’s a slightly updated version of 2020’s Top 1 per cent of Fans feature, and Spotify said it “provides a definitive way to prove you listen to these artists more than any other fan. This isn’t a measure of how early on you’ve been listening to an artist. It’s a measure of how many times you have streamed an artist’s song on Spotify”.

How does it work?

Users need to log on to todaystopfans.byspotify.com where they can access it on their computers and mobile phones.

Once logged in, users can see the stats for their most played artist by swiping across.

They can then scroll through all their stats including:

  • The most listened to artist
  • When they first listened to them
  • Their top three songs of their most listened to artist
  • How many times they have played their favourite song

It also tells users how many hours they have spent listening to that artist and what percentage of the top fans of that artist you are in.
