Sony vegas lỗi not responding khi dựng video

I’ve used this version of vegas for a long time, as i have found this to be the most realiable version. But for some reason all of a sudden my projects just freeze up (thought it was just the one project, but i tried others and the same problem occured)i have to click on the cross in the corner, and then i get the error message, ‘Vegas is not responding. I can’t understand why this is happening? When everything has been working before. The files i use are mainly AVI and WMV, and my projects are between 3-4 mins long. I’ve tried solutions such as, making sure the project setting match the original files, copy and pasting the orignial project, into a new project, which at first seemed to work, but then the problem started again! I’ve checked the codec with Gspot, and they are all installed. Apart from the WMV, with were originally MKV files that i converted to WMV (but again, i’ve been working with these files for sometime and had no problem)

Some say it due to lack of space on your PC, but my computer is 5 months old and was built especially for video editing.

The not responding issue isn’t always consistent. It can happen as soon as i open a project, yesterday i worked on it for 2 hrs until it stopped responding, then after that it was all the time. I can’t playback a whole project because it freezes up half why through (but the music still plays). It seems to work best when i work on smaller sections, but even that freezes up eventually too.

Any ideas? Do you need more information? Bare in mind am not to computer literate!

• Describe your “freeze”. Do you just get the spinning icon or a white screen? When it freezes, go to Windows Start and enter “resmon”. In the resource monitor under either the CPU or Memory tab, find Vegas in the Processes windows. Right click on it and select “Analyze Wait Chain” If the process is waiting on something, there will be a list of threads waiting for something to happen. Unfortunately, the thread number doesn’t help us here. But you can terminate one or more of the waiting threads and maybe, just maybe, Vegas will give you a more meaningful error message. • I get both. First i get the spinning wheel, then i click the cross in the top right hand corner, then i get the white screen!

• I’ve seen Vegas 8.x, 10.x have the same issues. Whenever FileIOSurrogate.exe (from Sony) has a problem it appears to be a HD issue which is the common cause. First, I’d get Process Explorer from SysInternals. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653 This can show you all the process, subordinate DLLs, threads, etc. … more detail than you can throw a stick at. You can easily see if Vegas or something spawned from Vegas is “dead”. You can then kill Vegas from here. Second, I’d run a HD scan on your disks. chkdsk [dr:] /v/f should suffice.

• I think i did that, i went to resmon, analyse wait chain, and checked the boxes, and Vegas just closes. Should i be doing something else?

• From your image, you have two instances of Vegas running. If you don’t see two copies of Vegas in your task bar, something’s wrong (i.e., one of them has crashed; you don’t have a UI to interact with but it is still resident in memory). If you have had any applications shut down abnormally or if Windows blue-screen-ed on you, I’d run a HD scan. Open a command box and type: chkdsk c: /v/f Check each HD you have. Reboot. Start a fresh copy of Vegas. Process Explorer should only show one instance of Vegas. Create a new project and insert one of your previously used avi or wmv files. Save the project. Close and reopen it. You shouldn’t have any problems. Open one of the projects that you had a problem with. Any problems? If you do, open one of your backups (you did make backups, yes!?) to see if it is the file or some changes you made since your last “edit”. BTW … I’ve also seen Vegas die where the splash screen is up and it is on the “File I/O …” initialization. In those cases, I’ve found “oprhaned” File I/O Surrogate.exe hanging around (using Process Explorer). When I kill them and Vegas, a restart of Vegas almost always succeeds.

I’ve checked on process explorer again, and i only have one copy of vegas open. When i did print screen, i think i did have two copies open at once, one was frozen and the other one working.
