The final version of Windows 10 is version 22H2, which will reach end of servicing on October 14, 2025.

Beginning with Windows 10, version 21H2, feature updates for Windows 10 release are released annually, in the second half of the calendar year, to the General Availability Channel. They will be serviced with monthly quality updates for 18 or 30 months from the date of the release, depending on the lifecycle policy.

We recommend that organizations begin deployment of each General Availability Channel release immediately as a targeted deployment to devices selected for early adoption and ramp up to full deployment at your discretion. This will enable you to gain access to new features, experiences, and integrated security as soon as possible.

The General Availability Channel replaces the previous “Semi-Annual Channel” as the primary and recommended channel for Windows 10 servicing.

1 The Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 edition (version 21H2) does not have extended support. It will reach end of servicing on 2027-01-12. Only Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 (version 21H2) will have support until 2032-01-13.

Version 22H2 (OS build 19045)

To update devices running Windows 10, version 2004, 20H2, or 21H1 to Windows 10, version 21H2, you can speed up the update process using an enablement package.

Trong thông báo mới nhất, Microsoft xác nhận phiên bản 22H2 sẽ là cập nhật lớn cuối cùng của hệ điều hành Windows 10, tuy nhiên nền tảng vẫn nhận hỗ trợ và nâng cấp bảo mật tới hết ngày 14.10.2025. Đây cũng là thời điểm Windows 10 chính thức bị "khai tử".

22H2 phát hành lần đầu vào tháng 10.2022 và tới tháng 11.2022 được cài trên gần như toàn bộ máy tính sử dụng Windows 10. Cập nhật này khả dụng cho mọi phiên bản Windows 10 từ Home, Pro, Enterprise, Education, Pro Education, Pro for Workstations, IoT Enterprise. Theo khảo sát của Valve công bố tháng 3.2023, hơn 73% máy tính chạy Windows trên thế giới vẫn sử dụng phiên bản 10.

Với kế hoạch trên, Microsoft đồng thời khuyến cáo người dùng sớm nâng cấp máy tính lên phiên bản Windows 11 vì "Windows 10 sẽ không có thêm tính năng mới nào trong tương lai". Hệ điều hành Windows 11 phát hành chính thức đã hơn một năm rưỡi nên không có gì lạ khi nhà phát triển bắt đầu dừng các kế hoạch đối với phiên bản cũ hơn.

Tuy nhiên, sẽ có ngoại lệ là bản Windows 10 LTSC sẽ tiếp tục nhận cập nhật sau thời điểm tháng 10.2025 vì thiết kế vòng đời đặc biệt hơn. Theo lộ trình, phiên bản này sẽ dừng cập nhật quan trọng vào tháng 1.2027, trong khi IoT Enterprise thôi hỗ trợ từ tháng 1.2032. Trong nửa cuối năm 2024, Microsoft có kế hoạch ra mắt Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC và Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC.

Windows 10 lần đầu ra mắt năm 2015, trong suốt hơn 7 năm hoạt động, nền tảng này thường xuyên được chăm chút và đều đặn tung ra các bản cập nhật, trong đó update bảo mật gần như có mỗi tháng. Đã có thời điểm có tới 2 bản cập nhật lớn của Windows 10 mỗi năm trước khi giảm về 1 và gần như không có thêm gì mới kể từ khi thế hệ kế cận xuất hiện. Tháng 1 vừa qua, Microsoft đã dừng bán bản mềm của hệ điều hành này.
