Olympic Paris 2024
In 2024, Paris will be the host city for the Olympic Games! For this historic event, the City of Light is thinking big! Visitors will be able to watch events at top sporting venues in Paris and the Paris region, as well as at emblematic monuments in the capital visited by several millions of tourists each year. The promise of exceptional moments to experience in an exceptional setting! Beach volleyball events will be held opposite the Eiffel Tower on the Champ-de-Mars, fencing and taekwondo under the glass roof of the Grand Palais and archery on the esplanade at Invalides. The Pont d'Iena is also the venue for road cycling and the park of the Palace of Versailles for equestrian events. A great spectacle in prospect! Iconic French sporting venues will of course be playing their part. The Stade de France will host the athletics and rugby events and football matches will take place at the Parc des Princes and in other stadiums in France (Nice, Marseille, Nates, Bordeaux...). As for tennis and boxing events, they will be held at the prestigious Roland Garros stadium. The Seine, the capital's iconic river, is at the heart of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, as the Opening Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Games will be held on and around the river. This unique ceremony will be held outside a stadium for the first time and the public will be able to greet the athletes as they parade in floating boats on the Seine. Calendar of sporting events for the Paris 2024 OlympicsThe Calendar of sporting events for the Paris 2024 Olympics is out! The gold medals will be awarded from 27 July 2024, the day after the opening ceremony, for fencing events at the Grand Palais, judo at the Arena Champ-de-Mars, road cycling between Invalides and Alexandre III bridge, as well as street skateboarding on Place de la Concorde. Tennis fans will be at the legendary Stade Roland-Garros for the Olympic Games tennis tournament from 27 July to 4 August 2024. On the programme: singles and doubles competitions (women and men) as well as the mixed doubles competition. The athletics and swimming finals - key disciplines of the Olympic Games – will take place in the evening (in prime time) so that television viewers from all over the world will be able to enjoy watching them. The swimming finals are scheduled to take place from 6.30pm or 8.30pm from 27 July to 4 August 2024 and the athletics finals scheduled at the Stade de France from 7pm from 1 to 11 August 2024. The world's top female sprinters will line up for the women's 100 metres final on Saturday 3 August 2024. Their male counterparts will be in the starting blocks for the men’s 100 metres final on the following day, Sunday 4 August 2024. The women’s marathon – 42.195 km between Paris City Hall and Invalides – will bring the track and field events to a close in style on 11 August 2024, from 8am. The major French stadiums will host team sport events, in which France has every chance of winning medals. The finals of the football tournament are scheduled to take place at the Parc des Princes : on 9 August 2024 from 6pm for the men’s finals and on 10 August 2024 from 5pm for the women’s finals. The final stage of the basketball tournament will take place at Accor Arena from 6 to 11 August 2024, the same dates as the final stage of the handball tournament at Stade Pierre de Mauroy at Villeneuve-d’Ascq, just 1 hour from Paris by TGV. The (women’s and men’s) volleyball teams will be competing for their place on the podium at Arena Paris Sud 1 – installed for the Paris 2024 Olympics at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles - 27 July to 11 August 2024.
