Hi! I'm Tashina and I created Logical Harmony with the goal to help make cruelty-free beauty easy. I also love to create fashion and lifestyle content too.

It is a well-known fact that our Marketing Head will only attend morning meetings if a Venti Americano (with two shots of espresso) is placed before her. Failure to do so results in a series of snarls, grunts and deathly glares. So, when we chanced upon Lush’s Cup O’ Coffee Mask, we knew we needed to buy it for her immediately. Here is our review.

Packed with powerful ingredients like coffee, cocoa extract and kaolin, this mask is available Lush’s customary black pot. Although the cap fits the pot perfectly, we found that some of the product had leaked out while travelling in our suitcase. The ingredients and directions are clearly stated on the packaging.

On first glance, the mask truly looks like a coffee paste. As per the instructions, we spread it all over our body and left it to dry. The mask goes on smoothly, but it does have a slight sticky feeling to it. After roughly 5 minutes, we scrubbed it off using warm water. Although the scent of coffee entices us, the smell of this product turned out to be too strong for our liking.

The results? Soft, invigorated skin! The gritty texture of this mask gently buffs away dry skin and gives it a thorough cleansing. We found that the mask can cause irritation and redness on sensitive skin, but works wonders on the dry spots on our elbows and feet. Those with oily skin will also benefit from this mask, as it soaks up any excess grease instantly.

While this mask may not replace our morning dose of caffeine, it does provide a much needed boost to our skin. Rich, stimulating and cleansing, this mask should be used once a week to get baby soft skin. Just try not to add a spoon of it to your cappuccino!

My beautiful friend sent me a sample of this and she has me hooked! Spoiler - I love it and will be purchasing a full size!

Packaging: Standard black Lush tub, which I love. They're made from recycled material, they're sturdy, the lid closes nicely and they look nice and simple.

Scent: Okay this really smells awful but I'd rather it smell this bad (natural) than have them add unnecessary fragrance. It's something I can't describe very well but it's very strong and only dissipates mildly as you wear it. If you're sensitive to smells, you might want to give this a miss.

Product: I love it. It's amazing. This is the first physical exfoliant I've ever used that has actually done a good job and not made my skin feel like I shred it with tiny shards of glass (I'm looking at you apricot scrubs). I love the mask concept of this, two of my favourite things combined, masks and exfoliants. Leaving this on for 10 minutes really allows the coffee goodness to do it's thing, which is perk up the skin. I've never had a mask or an exfoliant leave my skin so soft, smooth and glowy. The caffeine really works the skin, it wakes it up, makes you feel more fresh. The kaolin helps to draw out any impurities and the glycerine aids in giving back some moisture. It's a wonderful mix of ingredients and my skin loves it. Once the mask has "dried" (it never sets fully which is a good thing in my opinion), I find it best to wet my finger tips with warm water and start moving in circular motions around my face, adding more water to my hands as needed. You really don't need to rub hard as the grounds are scrubby enough, the more water you add the less abrasive it will be too which is better for more sensitive skins. After I've "scrubbed" the mask around I take a warm wet wash cloth and gently remove what's left. My face is instantly brighter and plumper and it feels baby soft.

Overall: I'm so happy to have found a good physical exfoliant and one that is reasonably priced too! It's easy to get and once you collect 5 containers you can take them back for a free mask. I would suggest getting a sample of this first as it could be too stimulating and/or abrasive for some skin types (dry and sensitive) but I think normal, combo and oily skins will adore this!
