The park opens 24 hours per day and no admission fee required where you can just go there anytime and buy the foods to feed them. However, personally Im not recommending to go there after 5 pm as the road is quite dark and you might be scared by the deers 😂 Tips: - Wear a black shoes as there are a lot deer poo poos in the park!! Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ In 2024, I wish to travel to Perth and visit the Kangaroos and Koalas🐨🦘

• Nara Deer Park is fun for kids! 🦌

  fallishere If you are in Osaka you might as well visit Nara Park where you can just relax and chill in the park. No entrance fee. Free to roam around and enjoy the company of cute deers. This part of the trip was so exhilarating. It's simply stunning. The whole experience was amazing. The open fields, the shrines, the deer, everything was beautiful. Recommended to explore the park further and enjoy the nature. Be prepared to walk at least 20k steps and wear comfortable shoes.

  Nara Park is one of the must-see areas in Nara City. It is a nice place to see hundreds of deer roaming freely. Feeding the deer is one of the highlights when visiting the park. Some deer are aggresive tho, they will be chasing you if they smell the crackers, which you can buy around the park for 200 yen. When you bow your head to the deer, they bow back to you. Getting there: From Kyoto, take the JR Nara Line from Kyoto Station to JR Nara Station. Miyakoji rapid trains depart every 30 minutes, and the trip takes about 45 minutes one-way. It is covered by the JR Pass. Local trains are also available, but take an hour and fifteen minutes one-way.

  freehotelstay Nara Park is a gorgeous place to visit that is walking distance from the busy main station where there are many restaurants and a famous walking street. Entry is free and you are free to roam around the grounds or purchase some food for the deers. Money collected goes towards the caretaking of them. The deers are free roaming who seemed to be always hungry. Feeding the deers was such a fun activity. Once they see the biscuit in your hands, they will charge towards you. The deers can get quite aggressive so we put our child in her stroller as she was scared. Becareful if you have young kids with you. Also, do keep food and plastics away from them. We had a deer digging into our stroller basket as we had some leftover bread exposed. That shocked my little one and us. However the coolest thing about the deers are that if you bow to them, they will bow back to you! Besides the deers, Nara Park is filled with lots of culture and history with shrines and a huge pagoda right in the park. The area was tranquil and beautiful. Unfortunately we did not have much time to wander around longer. Nara Park is a absolute must visit as no other place has such a unique charm just right in the busyness of the town.

These deer have been protected for at least 1000 years and have become an inseparable part of the city, you will see there image everywhere. You can reach the park from Nara station on bus routes, about 4 stops from the station, taxis or direct on trains from Osaka, Kobe & Kyoto. The deer are very docile and friendly, If you are calm and considerate you can get close enough for photos and to touch them. The local shops sell food tor about $1.5 for you to feed them. But be careful, the deers can get very excited about the food and ground around you very quickly! It’s easier to find one or two deers on their own and feed them, feeding the large crowds can become very overwhelming! It’s a great trip for the whole family, and then there is plenty to do in the town before you go home - lots of food options and walking streets for souvenirs.

  The Nara Deers are cute and all but they get really feisty when you have food! Remember to ONLY feed the Nara Deers with food bought from the park! One pack of biscuits (10 inside) is 200 yen! You can get the food from any white standing wheel carts pushed by oba-chans (aunties). I’ve been chased non-stop by the deers once I bought my food. It was extremely horrifying. Here’s a tip! Get your camera ready once you find a deer to bow at! Because they will only bow at you twice or thrice max before they get bored of you!

Nara park is a large park and it is not just full of visitors from around the world at this park, but it is also full of deers. These deers are free to roam around in the park and they are surprisingly tame and not aggressive. People are allowed to touch and pet these cute animals and they are allowed to feed the deers too. Deer feed can be purchased from street stalls but do be very careful of the deer feed, as a whole hoard of deers would rush to you for the food and it will be gone in seconds. Nara park itself is very beautiful and it's even more special with these deers. It's a fun and unique experience at Nara park, so do visit it.

It’s cheap, fast, and very efficient. Nara is under an hour away from Kyoto and Osaka. There are two main train stations in Nara, making the city very easily accessible. Both stations are called Nara, but are distinguished by the train lines they serve: JR (Japan Railways) and Kintetsu. This can be a little confusing for first-time visitors, but luckily the stations are only a 10-15 minute walk from each other. Great for a day trip. Best time to visit are in Spring (Mar-May) and Autumn (Sep-Nov).

It’s quite a big park, and I had a great time visiting this park in autumn when the green leaves transformed their colours into red, orange, yellow, and brown. Nara Park is also famous as a home for sika deer. Legend said, sika deers there were considered sacred due to a visit from one of the gods. Nowadays, the deer is designated as national treasure. Visitor of the park can feed the deer by buying “deer crackers” sold in the park. this is one of exciting activity for me amid the breeze of fall.

I would recommend taking a romantic walk around the park during the sunset. A good time to go is during the weekdays as there are not much people. The one thing I really love is how quiet the place was even when there were alot of people.Do visit it if you are in Japan.

  Address: 469 Zoshicho, Nara 630-8211, Nara Prefecture How to Get there: 5 minutes walk from the Kintetsu Nara Station Get up close to nature & the 1,000 over roaming deer at the famous Nara Park. This relaxing vast public park is also home to the famed Todaiji temple & more. We easily spend almost a full day here, just walking around the park admiring the deer, the scenery, and walking around the temples. Most of the deer are just grazing on grass in the park, but there will be some deer which stationed themselves just beside the Shika Senbei store keepers (rice crackers for deer). We bought 1 pack, and soon enough, we were approached by a deer for food. It's very cute how they bow to you when you give them the crackers. However, do note that sometimes, there will be a few deer coming to you for the crackers and may be a bit aggressive. Very interesting experience with feeding the deer & observation of them up close.

  It is about a 50 minutes train ride from Kyoto to reach Nara, which is known as another historic city. It is home to numerous historical spots such as Todaiji, a symbolic Buddhist temple established by the emperor Shomu in the early 8th century. Nara offers not only traditional temples and historical sites but more! Nara Park is a vast park which opened in 1880. It covers approximately 502ha with a number of popular historic sites such as Todaiji, Kofukuji and Nara National Museum around. Nara Park is also known as Deer Park since over 1,000 deer actually live in the park! You can buy some deer crackers to feed them and some deer even bow to you to get a cracker! But be careful, these deer are usually tame and friendly but can be aggressive sometimes. Nara Park is also known as a popular cherry blossom viewing spot which is filled with stunningly beautiful pink flowers in spring!

Statistics has estimated that there are approximate 1200 Sika deers living around the area. This relaxing vast public park is also home to the famed Todaiji temple & more. We easily spend almost a full day here, just walking around the park admiring the deer, the scenery, and walking around the temples. Most of the deer are just grazing on grass in the park, but there will be some deer which stationed themselves just beside the Shika Senbei store keepers (rice crackers for deer). We bought 1 pack, and soon enough, we were approached by a deer for food. It's very cute how they bow to you when you give them the crackers. However, do note that sometimes, there will be a few deer coming to you for the crackers and may be a bit aggressive. Very interesting experience with feeding the deer & observation of them up close.

  • It is about a 50 minutes train ride from Kyoto to reach Nara, which is known as another historic city. It is home to numerous historical spots such as Todaiji, a symbolic Buddhist temple established by the emperor Shomu in the early 8th century. Nara offers not only traditional temples and historical sites but more! Nara Park is a vast park which opened in 1880. It covers approximately 502ha with a number of popular historic sites such as Todaiji, Kofukuji and Nara National Museum around. Nara Park is also known as Deer Park since over 1,000 deer actually live in the park! You can buy some deer crackers to feed them and some deer even bow to you to get a cracker! But be careful, these deer are usually tame and friendly but can be aggressive sometimes. Nara Park is also known as a popular cherry blossom viewing spot which is filled with stunningly beautiful pink flowers in spring!
